Level 4 Ritae

Wisdom of the Crone

The Sabbat have never been famed for their brainpower, so it was only a matter of time before a Priest would develop a ritual to increase a Packs thinking power. The Priest who developed it had a slightly sick sense of humour and he could only make the brainpower work by eating brains. Even then it only works for specific occult based information. More work is needed to increase actual brainpower, but the Sabbat may well have more important things to do...

"My mind is open to be expanded
T
he brains of all others will make me stronger
The power of brains shall create a web of information
Like a spider drinking a corpse we shall sup from the brains of humanity
With this brain we will feast; mmm brains."

Effect: This Ritual grants bonus points to Occult or Sabbat Lore - the brain's current level of Mental Traits are divided amongst the ritualists equally.

Flirting with DEstruction

Theatrics are a staple of the Sabbat. Shock tactics, dramatic death defying acts even during Rituals are a mainstay of how the Sabbat operates. A Toreador Antitribu Priest developed the Ritual to allow a Cainite to perform the most spectacular attacks and yet survive (perhaps not survive in a healthy way, but survive) to perform further acts of their kind in the future. At the point of death the Cainite can avoid it using his will to keep himself going. It is very difficult, and during the course of the Ritual the Cainites involved must ritually stab themselves. This wound can be mended, but only by the Priest during the Ritual itself. Otherwise it cannot be healed until the next night.

For us, Final Death is our ending
With our will we shall edit the reel
Those moments we have when we flash
Shall afford us new life
New beginnings and new nights with which to wrest control
."

Effect: Allows the ritualists to ignore the first wound which would put them into Final Death. Every Ritualist takes 1 Lethal damage level, healable with Ritae vs. 9.

Focus of the Inquisitive Soul

This is an improved ritual over the Inquisitive Mind. It allows a Cainite to sacrifice more senses to improve another with greater efficiency. This Ritual means you can actually sacrifice all senses bar one to allow that one to be as supernaturally sharp as to be painful.

"Give us sight beyond sight
Give us hearing beyond imagination
Give me the taste of the Gods
Give me the touch of the most gentle love
Give me the ability to track across the most odourless desert
."

Effect: As per Inquisitive Mind but the Ritualists can sacrifice multiple senses for a better bonus.

Aura Transfer

The aura is a powerful indicator of how you feel, of who you are and what your intentions are. It is a standard security procedure for Cainites to check the aura of anyone new. This can cause a huge amount of problems when someone wishes to infiltrate or to deceive something as necessary. This power allows the aura to be swapped with a target's aura. It can even be swapped multiple times, but an aura must exist for it to be swapped.

"My spirit shall be deceived
Your sight shall be lie
Their ideas are wrong
The world will not see me for who I am."

Effect: The target individual may swap auras with another (not necessarily willing ) target. Can be done with multiple Ritualists, but each person must have a target to swap with.

Trials of Pain

Hardy Cainites still feel the pain of wounds; despite their ability to carry on despite them. This pain can become highly detrimental to a Cainite and cause silly and avoidable mistakes. This Ritual eliminates that problem, making a Cainite truly impervious to pain in totality. It needs a Cainite to face their fear of pain, or to use their reserves of will to gain the ability to ignore the pain.

"My mind shall overcome the pain
My pain is insignificant to that of the Sabbat
The lives of my pack mates will survive
I shall be as numb as the coldest day
I shall feel nothing, and my enemy will know fear."

Effect: Allows the Ritualists to ignore wound penalties up to wounded. Requires a Courage test vs. 3 or lose a Willpower.

Touch of Icy Flesh

Fire is the bane of Cainites. It induces the fear, it can kill with such a touch that would not bother a human. This Ritual was developed as a 'cheating way' to perform the fire dance. The priest who developed it was killed for his indiscretion, however the usefulness of the ritual still stands today.

"Let the coldness of our hearts still our souls
Let no fire burn my skin
Let me walk as if I were a man
For I shall fear not the burning."

Effect: Lowers the level of any heat/fire damage taken that night by 1 level. Ritualists gain the Flaws of Icy Touch and Eerie Presence.

Heart of the Golem

The Golem was a construct founded in the Jewish faith. It had hands and feet of clay and was nigh indestructible. A Tzimisce Priest took this idea, for he was tired of augmenting unworthy Cainites. He developed this Ritual so that it would give those ungrateful whelps a taste of what rewards could be given. During a complicated Ritual the skin hardens and the blood thickens, reducing mobility but increasing resistance to damage.

"With hands of clay
With feet of stone
With heart of iron
And with soul indestructible
We will be immortal."

Effect: Recipients receive an extra Wounded health level but lose 2 Physical Traits.

Eyes of the Lowlands

The Giovanni have always had something the Sabbat requires; the ability to see Ghosts, Wraiths and all sorts of spectral creatures. This Ritual allows a Cainite to know if he is being watched, for when your resting place can be touched by such a creature from which you have no defence, then at least the ability to see them should be able to ward them off. Strangely this ritual was developed by a Samedi, and even then it was an accident during a particularly drug-induced game of instinct. It requires the Cainite to lose a piece of himself into the ether so that his mind may see the spectral forms around him.

"My eyes shall see the unseen
My mind shall know that which can not be known
My sight knows no bounds
No spies shall hide from me."

Effect: Participants gain the ability to see Ghosts and Wraiths, but lose a Mental and a Social Trait.

Touch of Aphrodite

Though the Sabbat revel in their vampiric natures, sometimes to create the most harmful thing imaginable you have to have a trustworthy face. To this end the Cainites have developed a way to make them look human for a night. It requires a live sacrifice during the Ritual and for the Ritualists to drink the live blood from the vessels of the heart.

"His blood will be my blood
My face shall be rejuvenated
We give thanks to Aphrodite
Goddess of beauty
Her visage allows us to deceive our prey."

Effect: Grants the Baby-Face Merit.

Mettle of Lilith

Lilith is mother to Cainites, at least in some stories - her will carried forward her children into the world. Without her ability to be strong, some say Cainites would never have survived the Great Flood. Her example has been incorporated into this Ritual. It was developed to steel the lesser minds of those within the Sabbat against mental torture. It requires them to overcome a sense of impending dread. Those who do however, reap the rewards.

"Lilith our mother
She who is borne of God
Her will is strong and so is ours
For we share the same blood
Her strength is our strength
Her bravery is ours as well
We beseech thee Dark Mother that we may be worthy of thy name."

Effect: Grants the Iron Will Merit. Everybody must resist a Dread Gaze vs. 8 Social Traits.

Aegis of Drachenfells

The Tremere have always had the advantage within the realms of Magic. Few know that this Ritual was created by a group of student society Cainites. It took many nights and many sacrificed polyhedral dice. The ritual causes the blood to boil from the Cainite, unless they make their ‘save’. With no risk there is no reward. Still the origins are not discussed, only its useful applications.

"And thus Drachenfells stalked the night
He came up behind the wizard
Who fired a spell
Drachenfells laughed
And then slit his throat
His example leads us forwards
Drachenfells greatest of Vampires."

Effect: Grants the Magic Resistance Merit. Make a static mental test against 10 – Priests Ritae, or take a 1 point Cauldron.
